From the recording Daddy
This song by Cowboy Jack Clement is one of the saddest country tunes I know. Of course no one does it quite like the Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner version released back in 1970. But Nick Alberty has an achingly beautiful singing voice, a country soul and a way with harmony like no other. I love singing this duet with him.
Lyrics
There’s a picture that I carry
One we made some time ago
When they ask who’s in the picture with me
I say just someone I used to know
Just someone I used to spend some time with
Just a flame that’s lost its glow
I don’t tell them of the nights I cried without you
I say just someone I used to know
Just someone I used to hang around with
Just a friend from long ago
I don’t tell them how lost I am without you
I say just someone I used to know
I say just someone I used to know
