From the recording Daddy

Dan and I have had so much fun singing and playing this song together.  It’s always a crowd pleaser, and Dan has the perfect Johnny Cash voice.  Everybody loves Johnny and June!  Steve gets a chance to shine on upright bass, as well as both Mike and Dan on electric guitar.

Lyrics

Well, we got married in a fever
Hotter than a pepper sprout
We’ve been talkin’ ‘bout Jackson
Ever since the fire went out
I’m going to Jackson
Gonna mess around
Yeah, I’m going to Jackson
Look out Jackson town
Well go on down to Jackson
Go ahead and wreck your health
Go make your plan you big talkin’ man
Make a big fool of yourself
Yeah go to Jackson, go comb your hair
I’m gonna snowball Jackson
See if I care
Well when I breeze into that city
People gonna stoop and bow
Ha!
All them women gonna make me
Teach ‘em what they don’t know how
I’m going to Jackson
Ya turn loose of my coat
Yeah I’m going to Jackson
Goodbye that’s all she wrote
They’ll laugh at you in Jackson
And I’ll be dancing on a pony keg
They’ll lead you ‘round town like a scalded hound
With your tail up between your legs
Yeah go to Jackson, you big talkin’ man
And I’ll be waiting in Jackson behind my Japan fan
Now we got married in a fever
Hotter than a pepper sprout
We’ve been talkin’ ‘bout Jackson
Ever since the fire went out
We’re going to Jackson
And that’s a fact
Yeah we’re going to Jackson
Ain’t never coming back
We got married in a fever
Hotter than a pepper sprout
We’ve been talkin’ ‘bout Jackson
Ever since the fire went ou-ou-ou-ou-out
